Isabel Bär and Sophie Hordijk win the NVTH Basic Science Awards

During the annual symposium of the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Trombose en Hemostase (NVTH) in Koudekerke, the department of Hematology of the Erasmus MC swept 2 out of 3 annual NVTH Basic Science awards. Isabel Bär and Sophie Hordijk, both from the research group of Dr Ruben Bierings, were recognized for their excellent abstracts and oral presentations of their work.

 

Sophie presented her work on the identification of the Rab guanine nucleotide exchange factor MADD as a critical regulator of Weibel-Palade body exocytosis and as a novel determinant of VWF plasma levels. Isabel shared her latest results on the development of CRISPR-Cas9 mediated gene correction strategies for Von Willebrand Disease.

 

The NVTH awards consist of a certificate and a €1000,- prize to be spent on a conference, workshop or research visit abroad.
