Madelon’s thesis described original research on the bone marrow environment in multiple myeloma patients, performed under supervison of Dr Tom Cupedo and Prof Dr Pieter Sonneveld at our department.

The major finding from Madelon’s thesis work is the identification of the tumor-supportive bone marrow niche for myeloma tumor cells, consisting of activated stromal and immune cells.
